California, California, Here we come!

We made it!
We spent the day driving around Lake Tahoe, into the National Forest. We didn't have to be in Davis for dinner until 4pm, so we meandered around the lake, finding little inlets, overlooks, marinas, and docks to explore.

At our first stop, we found a quieter nature path that we were able to walk off our breakfast with. We hiked past a marina and I found some boats to look at.

Similar to Two Rivers, but much better.
Eric, exploring.
Next we found a dock that led out into the Lake, and we were able to see exactly how clear the water really is here. Its as clear as the tropics, but cold and fresh. We befriended a black lab who fetched a ball and went swimming around the lake for awhile. Very burly dog.

So nice.
Dock.

Dog broke the rules.
Burly dog.
I think I see it!
Then we drove up the mountains to various overlooks around Emerald Cove. Some of the best pictures from this trip will have come from this place.

Emerald Cove. Where you go when you die if you don't like Newport, Rhode Island.
We then made our drive over US-50 into California. Things began to get green, and we took a little detour through the countryside to unsuccessfully avoid traffic. Found some gorgeous overlooks before the fog settled in all the way to San Francisco.

California valleys feel like you're in a painting.
Fog.
We then ate dinner with Eric's family in Davis, which they treated us to delicious Mexican and frozen yogurt. We hope to see them again for the Jets game on Sunday. Around 9:30 we arrived in Foster City with a warm welcome from Dorothy. We set off for our first day in San Fran tomorrow morning.
