For Bob

We apologize for not updating last evening, but after our very long day and team meeting we had last night, we all basically forgot to do this before going to bed. We arrived Monday evening at Dorothy's home in Foster City, California. A special thank you to her for opening up her home to the four of us

Yesterday was another great day. We starteded out by taking the Bay Area Rapid Tranisit (bart) from Millbrae where Dorothy lives to the Embarcadero station. From here, we walked along all of the piers catching gorgeous views of the bay area to the west and the city sky line to the east. We stopped at Pier 39 to start with our day of tourism. This was where we were able to see our first glance at Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, and the sea lions. The fog had lifted off of the city just in time for us to get going. Also, the weather was in the 60's, sunny, and absolutely gorgeous--sure beats being home where they keep getting hit with ice and snow storms.

After pier 39, we found our way to this sour dough bread company at fisherman's wharf and feasted on New England clam chowder in a bread bowl. Delicious! Directly beyond the wharf was a small beach where Kelly and Regina put their feet in to the chilly Pacific waters (Tom and Eric refused and put their hands in instead).

On the hill behind the beach was Ghiradelli square. Regina did a few gymnast moves through the park and we made our way in to chocolate heaven. Unfortunately, after eating such a huge lunch we really didn't have an appetite for dessert. This didn't stop us from sharing a few bites of ice cream with dark chocolate sauce.

We found the station for the old town cable cars and took a ride from the pier up some of the huge hills and through a few neighborhoods. At the top of this ride, we walked back through China Town to Lombard street to find the infamous "windiest road." We took this path by foot and ended up in Little Italy at the bottom.

This was about the time we called for a happy hour, and found a small cafe to share a bottle of wine at--we even sat outdoors because it was so warm! Right around this time, the sun had started to set and we began our walk back to Embarcadero station to take the bart home. After a stop at the Safeway to pick up some breakfast and dinner items, we were home. Tom and Kelly made chicken fajitas for the group and we were all ready to go to sleep.

Today we're biking through the west side of the city along the pacific and the golden gate bridge, and we look forward to another warm and wonderful day!
